ICT EVALUATION

This year, I’ve to create a model of a successful theme park using the popular games software Rollercoaster Tycoon. The projects gave me have a lot of good experience about how to run a business. Firstly is to create a discount poster for Vanilla Hills. Secondly is Vanilla Hill leaflet and the last one is Spreadsheet Model. Vanilla Hill poster is to promote the audience to come to the park. The leaflet is for introducing the park. Spreadsheet model shows me how much things cost in the park, how much income my park makes and does my theme park make profit or loss. I use the design cycle to create all of this because it makes the process so much easier.

I think my poster is the best one of all my creation, because I have spent a lot of time and ways to make it looks better. When I create the project, I learnt how to use the white space, fantastic fronts, focal point, display balance, and color correctly. At first to advertise my theme park, I need to think who my customer is going to be, because audience is the one that make money for my park. For example: children, parents, adults... I chose parents and children to be my audience because I thought children and parents are easier to convince, I will show them how safety games are and how fun is it. To do the advertisement I need to make my park a logo. I learnt how to use Panit.Net and layer when I made my logo. My logo is a face of cow and under the face is “Vanilla Hill”. To create my poster I must have a good use of white space. I used white spaces between my fantastic logo and the Vanilla Hills title, because it make easier to see. My focal point is discount 20% at the weekend. I made that as my focal point because when customers look at my poster, the first things they would see are the high discount number plus attractive pictures. Of course people like discount stuff, as they will come to my park like the beach in hot summer day. I used fantastic fonts for all my text because it will looks special so people will get more attention to look at it. The pictures and texts, because I want my texts are equally on the both side. I found a good picture of a roller coaster to put on the left side, at the right side I wrote some texts, plus some picture of balloons. At the middle I used texts to make my poster balance. “Simple is nice”, as I put a picture of roller coaster on the left side of my poster to show future customer how amusing is it in my park. I used simple background to make my poster looks simple, not to colorful and hard to see. I gave out the time that the park will open and close. To make colors correctly I chose brown for my background and my text’s fronts is black, because it easier to see and they are going well together.

For my leaflet, I have learned about how to use Microsoft Publisher. I think this skill is important because when I’m in high school or either at work, I will need to use it. My leaflet is required to have a map. The map is uses to show the audiences where they can find games, rides that they want to go to, and good information about my theme park. To create the map I used pant.net to erase some parts that I don’t need. I think my leaflet wasn’t good, because I didn’t manage my time very well for the design, also mixed up the color of texts and background.

My Spreadsheet Model wasn’t good enough because I didn’t put my effort in it. To make it I must use a lot of techniques. I used excel to made it, to change cells I must use formatting, used formulas to calculated cost and income, goal seek used to do model variables, and to connected all the page together, I used hyperlink, If statement is the one that shows my business make profit or loss, conditional formatting used to changes color of IF statement to make it easier to look at, and the last one is voice threats. Voice threat is the web site that I used to embed the spreadsheet, also for evaluating it.

From these projects I know how to run a business successfully by developing profit and loss a financial model using Microsoft Excel; a leaflet to introduce the park, and a discounting poster using Publisher. I will not just try to develop these benefits to my future study career, but also through out my life.
